THE KING’S PICTURES. “LOENA DOONE” TO-NIGHT. An American biograph version of E. D. Blackmore's renowned novel, “Lorna Doone,” was presented at the King’s Pictures last and a more powerful dramatic subject it would be hard to firm. Eight throughout the two acts interest never cea.sed, and the settings and acting, with costumes of the period, were excellent. Another noteworthy inclusion was “Father and Son,” a Vitagraph drama of considerable merit, “An Episode of the Mexican War (drama), “Mr Hubby’s Wife” (comedy), “A Smoky Story,” and “Bunny at the Derby” (comics), “Topical Budget,” and “A Viai': to the London Zoo” (interest) were also attractive subjects. The programme will bo repeated this evening. ;

"WITHIN OUE GATES’.” OE “DEEDS THAT WON GALLIPOLI.”

A picture of rare significance, entitled “Within Our Gates,” or “Deeds That Won Gallipoli,” will bo presented at tho King’s Theatre for a short season of three nights, commencing Thursday, Sentember 2nd. The film is 3,500 feet in length; and was staged by a J. C. Williamson stock company, including many artists'who visited this town recently with the spectacular spy d’-ama, “The Ma’’ Who Stayed at Home.” A film produced by such a firm, and with artists familiar to theatre-goers, cannot fall to attract a large audience. Tho story has to do with the spy within our gates, who aided an enemy’s ship to lie waiting for bur transports. Scenes of the landing at the Dardanelles are realistically portrayed, while an effective love story has been interwoven with the more dramatic scenes. A full series of other attractive items will be associated with this film.. The management announce that all soldiers will be admitted at half price. Box plan for reserved seats is now oneri at Allden’s.
