TREATED WITH SALVARSAN

DEATH OF THE PATIENT. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, March 6. An inquest was hold on Geo. Edward Collins, who died on Thursday after being treated for a certain complaint with a drug known as “salvarsan’' of .606. In evidence a medical man stated that he did not generally regard the remedy mentioned as specially risky. A post mortem examination revealed that the heart was contracted in the left ventricle and the right side of the heart was dilated and filled with a mixture partly fluid and partly clotted blood. The lungs showed signs of old standing pleurisy. The effect of the remedy in this case was a tendency to the formation of clots, probably due to specific conditions. A verdict was returned that deceased died from pulmonary emoolisra.
