South Australia won by 86 AUSTRALIA v. HAWKE'S BAY. HO HE team bats first. (Per United Press Association ) HASTINGS, February 18, Hie morning broke beautifully hue for the cricket match, Australia v. Hawke's Bay. There is a- large attendance, and the wicket is in first-class condition. The teams are as under;
Hawke's Bay.—Fulton, Blamires, Spaceman, Creed, Lichens, hi I is, Napier, Board, Blinks, Geake, and Hindmarsh. Australia.—Armstrong, Cody, Dolling, Laver, McGregor, Mailey, McKenzie, Bansford, Sims, Trnrapcr, and 'VVaddy. Blamires captained tlio home team, and Sims tlie visitors. Hawke's Bay won the toss, and Board and Creed opened to the bowling of Armstrong and Laver. At ILIA Armstrong opened from the north end to Board, who sent his first to leg for 4. Laver’s first ball was cut by Board for I, Creed driving the uex to the off for a single, and be sent the last ball of the over for 3. Armstrong’s next over was a maiden. An off-drive for 4 by Board off Laver brought up JO. Board scored a single off a no-ball from Armstrong, and in Laver’s next over sent Armstrong to the leg-boundary, bringing 20 up. Board made a s'raighf drive off Laver for a quartette, and 30 appeared on the board after 25 minutes’ play. Armstrong was bowling very accurately, and was l difficult to score from, bowling several maidens. After half an hour’s play the toial was 35 for no wickets.
