The review of the metropolitan troops is unlikely to Have created a favourable impression upon Sir General lan Hamilton, who uas kept waiting five minutes before tho officers Mere aM’are that he had arrived. There M - as an embarrassing delay in arranging the troops for tho salute, and. the massed bands M - ere so far aM’ay that they acre hardly heard. The General expressed himself as pleased at tho M-ork of the men and the May they marched past, but said a ceremonial parade gave tho reviewing officer a chance of seeing liom- the officers handled tlie men, and they must not bo taken by surprise. A general must bo looked upon as an enemy, because he tried to pick holes in everything. The.v should be ready for him.
