Mrs Bulstrado, who has traversed Mongolia with a caravan, states that the prisons and dungeons contain a number of refined Chinese, who are shut up for life in heavy ironbound coffins which do not permit the prisoners to sit upright. Thev have always to lie down, and can only see daylight for a few minutes daily, when their food is thrown into the coffins through a small hole.
