BOXING. VANGANUI AMATEUR ASSOCIATION. At a meeting of the committee of the above held last evening, it was rejiorted ‘hat arrangements for the tournament to •>o held in the Opera House on Friday, the 23rd insl., were progressing satisfactorily. in addition to the Irelaud-Bart ett cl,-.-di, wnioh v.ill be the chief attraction, three amateur bouts will bo decid'd. Two of the amateur bouts—Bond v. Thomas, and Callaghan v. Symes, are already definitely arranged, and another is being fixed up. Bond and Thomas mot in the Brigade tourney at Oringi camp, and tho verdict went to the former after i splendid contest. Thomas, who hails from Ngaore, is keen, to meet the Wanganui man again, and is confident of turning the tables, so that a very interesting bout is assured. Callaghan and •iynus should he a well matcued pair, md another such stirring contest as that witnessed between Callaghan and Phillips at the recent tourney may bo anticipated. The Iroland-Bartlett match should be fuile one of the best ever seen here, and could alone be a sufficient draw to fill -ho Opera House. Ireland has a fine re;ord, and is one of the most popular bos•rs in New Zealand. He wLI be giving iwuy a lot of weight, a young, clever boxer, but Barney’s great skill will stand im in good stead, and a stirring contest ■huu’.d be witnessed.

COURSING. The final committee meeting in conncc-'-ion with the Coursing Club meeting, vhieh takes place on the club’s enclosure it L ust own on May Bth and 10th, was mid last night. A large number of nomiuations were received for the meeting, ■oming from as far distant as Wellington ■ml Hastings. Arrangements for the meeting are wel liu hand, and, given fine weather, should be a great success. Tho ■hawing for the meeting takes place at Foster's Hotel to-night.
