The Arbitration Court is dealing with the dispute in the brewery and bottling •■rude. Mr MacManus, for-the union, optioned the : application for certain exemptions, and contended'that as the agreement was reached on January 14th, two lays prior to theTast sitting of the Court, the award ,bo made retrospective.' In the Dunedin trawlers’ dispute, Mr Breen, for the union, moved that the case be struck out, which the employers opposed, asking for ah award. The application was withdrawn. In the farriers’’ dispute, Mr Taylor, for the Southland coachbuilders, oblooted to Southland craplovers being added to any reference. Adjourned for a week to eniblc the parties to agree to a limitation if the radius around Dunedin.

The metal workers’ assistants applied o have the Commissioner’s recommendations embodied in the award. The cmoioyers take exception to the clause affecting existing contracts. The hearing U proceeding.
