FIRES.
BLAZE AT PAHiATUA. (Per United Press Association.) PAIIIATUA, May 18, A disastrous fire occurred in Pahiatna early tliis morning, whereby the twostorey premises owned and occupied bv Messrs J. V\ , Sturton and Co., general storekeepers, were totally destroyed. The building was lire largest of its hind in Pahiaiuu, and was a line, commodiousstructure. A valuable stock was carried. The building was insured in the Liverpool, London, and Globe for .£1(500, and' the fixtures in the same office for T-PIO. disks ’on stock were also held in the same office and in the South British. The amount 'held by the former is JJ725, but the amount held by the latter is not available at present. Tire loin! loss is estimated at JMIiiKJ. FIRE AT BEALEY FLAT. (TiiMSTCm 11CTI, May ILL A block of wooden buildings, consisting ot the men's changing 1 rooms, bathrooms, boiler-house, and offices at Healey Plat, belonging to Messrs McLean and Sous, the Otira Tunnel contractors, was destroyed by fire at I o'clin this morning. There was no insurance on the buildings, ■which were valued at A3OO.
