The Gertie arrived from Groymouth after we went to press yesterday afternoon. She crossed the liar at 3.13. The Alexa, with a full cargo of white pine for Sydney, was towed out over the bar by the Arapawu yesterday afternoon. - To-day’s arrivals were the Breeze, at 7 a.m.. and the Moa. at 7.40 a.m., both from Wellington. All the vessels in port—the Breeze, Moa, and Gertie—are expected to sail on tonight’s tide. The Breeze discharged a big general cargo from Wellington and the South today. She sails for Lyttelton and East Coast ports to-night, with cattle and general merchandise. The Moa also brought a mixed consignment. The Gertie, from the South, brought a load of coal-for the Government to-day. The Olympic and Titanic (a sister ship now building) are each to carry more than 5000 people, all told. They will have ulna steel decks, and one of them will be largely given up to a ball-r00m., : There will be a big swimming bath on board, to say nothing of. shower baths attached t' cabins. The main dining saloon will seat 600 passengers. There will be a number of cafes to choose from, one of them of the verandah type, and a garden on the sun deck, as well as a milm garden. The grill-room, with high-backed stal's of old oak, and broad high tables, will be another feature. The Germans are clover in introducing new features into their passenger steamers, but in point of luxurious comfort they will surely bird it difficult to eclipse the Olympic and tho Titanic. The dimensions oi the Olvmpie arc as under:—Length over all 832 ft. length between perpendiculars 850 ft, breadth (extreme) 924 ft, moulded depth 641 ft. draught of water (laden) 34ft, displacement at load draught 50.000 tons, grovs tonnage 43,300, horse-power 40,000 to 50,000, sea’speed 21 kuotfl.
