SCRATCHING. (Per United Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, July R. Napper was scratched for the Grand National Hurdles this morning. BY “ACHILLES.” Parable has been taken in hand again by T. Quinlivan, junv., at Hastings. At one time it was thought that Palaver’s daughter was in foal, -but the’ trainer is uow{ of opinion that ho was wrong in his conjecture. Quinlivan has also further in-.-reased his band, of workers by the ind union of Montria, the coming two-year-oul half-brother by Merriwee to Midnight Sun,. Noctuifom, and Nightfall. The Sydney writer, “Martindalc,” of the Town and Country Journal, selects Los Angelos as one of his fancies for the Epsom and Metropolitan Handicaps. The Wellington Racing Club has decided to oppose the appointment of stipendiary stewards, and has instructed its delegates (Messrs J. W, Abbott and 0. S. Watkins) to the Racing Conference to vote accordingly. The yearling half-sister (by St. Ambrose) to Danube, who was purchased at the Raudwick autumn sales by the Victorian sportsman, “Mr S. Rawdon,” for 900 gns. has been named Ladoga. A deputation from the Patea Racing Club will proceed to Wellington shortly to interview the Hon. D. Buddo with regard to the report of tile late Racing Commission.
