NORTHUMBERLAND MINERS’ DISPUTE.
Press Association—Telegraph.—Copyright. Received July 7, 8.5 a.m. LONDON, July 6. Tho Northumberland minors have largely voted for a strike to secure the abolition of three shifts. It is doubtful if the British Federation will sanction a national strike.
QUEENSLAND SUGAR STRIKE
Outlook Serious. Received July 7, 9.45 a.m. BRISBANE, July 7. Four hundred sugar strikers are camped in the Bundabcrg district. A. number of free labourers have surr-m dered their contracts and left the district. Crushing at some of the mills is proceed ing with the assistance of farmers. A free workers’ organisation lias been formed at Mackay, The strikers are receiving good financial support from other Unions. The Hon. F. G. Tudor considers' the outlook serious, and fears that the growers will be unable to get all the cane off the fields this season.
