JUDGE SUGGESTS FLOGGING AS A PUNISHMENT.

Press Association—Telegraph.—Copyright. Received July 5, 11.30 a.m. LONDON, July 4. George Lucid has been sentenced at the Old Bailey to seven years’ imprisonment for bigamy. Two thousand seven hundred letters were found in his lodgings, showing that he had been corresponding with 42 women simultaneously. He obtained £ISOO from one woman. Judge Bentoul said he hoped the Suffragettes would change the law, and make the offence of bigamy one for flogging.
