KING'S BIRTHDAY HOLIDAY.
EMPLOYERS FINED. (Per United Press Association.) GISBORNE, July 3. A local firm of drapers was fined nominal amounts on sixteen charges for employing female assistants on Saturday, June 3rd (King’s Birthday), the holiday prescribed by the Factory Act. The defendants pleaded guilty, stating that the employees preferred a holiday the following Alonday, which was publicly observed hero.
