PIPIRIKI DROWNING CASE.

Details of the accident .which resulted in the death of Edwin Glanfield, whose parents reside in Onehunga, show that Glanfield was employed in one of the boats trading on the Wanganui River above Pipiriki. On Wednesday morning, wdien the little vessel was steaming up the river about four miles above Pipiriki, Glanfield was walking along the narrow portion of the boat outside the cabin towards the bows in the performance of his duties, when the engineer, J. Mason, heard a splash. He looked astern, and saw Glanfield in the water, ami just at that moment the unfortunate ycung man threw up his arms and bnmediately sank. The steamer returned down stream, but no. sign of Glanfield could bo seen, and the body has not jtt teen recovered. The spot is considered one of the most dangerous in the rivm, the water being deep, with a strong undercurrent. Later. The police received word to day that the body of the young man Edward Glanfield, who was drowned off owv of the river steamers last week, was found about five miles below Pipiriki ; this morning. The body was found by the police search party.
