AMUSEMENTS, MEETINGS, ETC

HAYWARD’S PICTURES

Tho present series attracted a good crowd to the Lyceum last evening, and was again much appreciated. The three star pictures “The Death Disc,” “The Heir to Clavancourt Castle,” and the scenic “Schaft'hausen,” came in for the applause they merited, while the comicabsurdity “A Familv Outing at Luna Park,” almost convulsed the audience. This programme will be shown for the last • time to-night. A special programme for young people will bo screened on Saturday afternoon at the matinee. Tho new programme promises to bo of great interest, especially a him showing the various stages of work in converting a Canadian forest into newspaper. A film depicting tho wonders of the Antwerp Zoo is also a feature of the new series.

I OPERA HOUSE. THE “MUSICAL ALL BLACKS.” Tlie Opera House was packed last even- ! i’ig, when the “Musical All Blacks” opeaed- | their Wanganui season with a first-class programme. Th e “All Blacks” have re- ! turned after an absence of four years, and , it is not too much to say that, while this ; versatile family has lost none of its old ; charm, it has' gained immensely in talent i ai, d experience. Last night’s programme ■ commenced with a scries of moving pictures, which for clearness and all-round excellence would be hard to beat. “Off to b mcrica by the s.s. Adriatic” was a most instructive film, while “The Juvenile Scientist” was a regular side-splitter. At fhe conclusion of the picture series, an all- . top-short musical programme was odven al bough numerous encores added considerably to its duration. Every item thoroughly justified its inclwnnn, but it would be hardly fair to pass the orchestral selects 118 of the family and the violin solos of 1 Miss Nellie Black without special menj Don. Other popular turns were Mr Harry i Spcr.e.er s comic songs, a mandoline quarI t-tte of popular airs, and a double dance ! “Tommy Atkins,” by Miss Elsie and Mr 1 Bert Black. A humorous sketch, “Harj mony Hall,” was most amusingly ren- ; fhred, and received a well-deserved encore. Another scries of animated pictures con- ; Gilded an entertainment which we have no hesitation in recommending to our readers. A complete change of programme is announced for to-night, when the company , will make, their last appearance. All those i desirous 0 f securing good seats a- e advised \to go early, as there will doubtless be i another big crowd | !
