THE FIJI HURRICANE.

NUMBER OF LIVES LOST. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 21. The island mail brings additional or ticulars of the damage done by the recent hurricane, in Fiji, the most serious feature being the loss of eight lives at Eewa. The unfortunates were all natives. Enormous damage was sustained by the banam crops, some 7000 acres of cane have been levelled, and houses are all more or less damaged. The Methodist Mission at Eewa sustained damage amounting to about .£3OOO, and much damage was done to the crops at Navua. The damage to bananas is put down at £12,000. At Ban and other vil'ages in th' 1 neighbourhood some 300 houses were destroyed, and a woman was killed by a house falling on her.
