UNDESIRABLE IMMIGRANTS.
MR BOYD’S EAGLES CAUSE TROUBLE. (P'U- United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, January 27. Trouble has arisen over the importation to New, Zealand of the two bald-headed eagles comprised in Mr Boyd’s menagerie, .which' was described in the Post of yester- ■ lay. The Hon. D. Buddo, as Minister of . nternal Affairs, is understood to have reused permission for them to land, unless ■ lie owner puts up ,£SO as a guarantee for lieir safe custody, and this Mr Boyd is •i lisinclined to do. He offered to enter into a bond for that amount, and also to have the birds’ wings broken, (so as to ensure that the birds would never fly again; but it is said that the Minister lias refused to accept tuis offer, and that the birds will naye to go. back to Germany. Some while ago two eagles were brought to New Zeamnd for the Newtown Zoo, and they lived and died there without any exception being taken by the Government to their presence in Hie country.
