CO-OPERATIVE HOUSE-BUYING AND PROVIDENT ASSOCIATION.

Tho second ballot meeting- of the Cooperative House Buying and Provident Association of Wanganui, was held on Monday evening at Dustin's Rooms, when a large number of the members were present. Mr W. S. Dustin occupied the chair, and gave a review of the work and progress of the Association in Wanganui, reading some reports of the increased progress being made yearly by the parent society in Australia." Its quarterly ballot has reached the sura of ,£7,G'O«, and the chairman said the popularity , of the society was increasing much more rapidly as time nent on, and the people learned the advantages obtained from it. Messrs C. L. Bridges and I'. M. Spnrdlo were elected scrutineers and the marbles were drawn by Master Tucker, the successful member’s numbers being Go and 9. Thus four members out of a total of 74 have drawn their ballots during the first halt years working of the Association. Subscriptions fiave 'some in freely, and more could have been ballottcd for but the directors thought it better to go slowly and surely while the Association is young. All the members are well pleased udth their prospects. The usual votes of thanks brought the meeting to a close.
