ASHBURTON TROTTING MEETING.

SECOND DAY.

ASHBURTON, December 9. There was a good attendance at the second day's racing of the Ashburion Trotting Club's summer meeting, the weather being again fine. Results — Progressive Handicap — Phingari 1, Vermont 2, King Lynn 3. All started. Won by three lengths, the third 100 yards further behind. Time, 3.46. A&hburton County Handicap. — Dick Fly 1, Verax 2, Torpedo Bill 3. All started. Won by three lengths. Time, 4min 36 4-ssec. Dromore Handicap. — Jim Tracey 1, Electrocute 2, Vera Wood 3. All started. Won easily. Time, omin 12 2-3 sec.

Mr D. Moon informs the writer that there is a little foal at his place at Tayforth, which weighed only 13 pounds when born, though perfectly shaped, healthy, and as sound as a bell. The dam is tke well-known pony mare Tottie (belonging to Miss Ruby Moon), ■winner of many prizes at the Show here and elsewhere, and clie youngster was sired by Mr Gus McDonald's well-known Shetland pony stallion. Mr Moon says the loai is not as large as an ordinary-sized dog. He adds that he will be pleased to allow anyone to visit his place and inspect this little freak.
