THE LORDS "WARMLY SUPPORTED."

Cabled to a breathless world that the leading newspapers of South Africa ''warmly support" the action of the House of Lords in rejecting a Budget designed to make the rich man bear his fair share of taxation. This is not surprising, in. fact, it is what might have been expected. The leading papers of South Africa formerly gave "warm support" to the policy of using black labour instead of white. Then, after the war, when their masters, the capitalists of Johannesburg and, Kimberley, discovered that yellow labour was cheaper still, the leading newspapers proceeded to "warmly support" the flooding of South Africa with Chinese. In fact, anything tending to increase or maintain the status of the millionaire, or to prevent the white labourer from getting work, is sure to be "warmly supported" by the leading journals of South Africa.
