WANGANUI LICENSING COMMITTEE.
There was a full attendance of the Licensing Committee (Mr W. Kerr, S.M., chairman), at the quarterly meeting at the Courthouse to-day. Up to the time we went to press no decisions had been given, but the following petitions- had been heard: — T. Hodson applied to transfer his wholesale license to W. Dustin (Mr Barnicoat) A. Hatrick and Co. applied for packet li censes for the river steamers Waione, Waiora, and Ohura. Gibson and Patterson applied for wholesale license to bell liquor in Wanganui. Mi Barnicoat, for applicant, laid emphasis on the monopoly of wholesale licenses in Wanganui, and quoted the case of a local importing agency. Mr Patterson, one of the applicants, referred to the inconvenience of having only one license in the running of two businesses (Palmerston and Waneanui). s (Left sitting).
