ECONOMIC BUILDING SOCIETY.
THIRTEENTH ANNUAL MEETINC. The annual general meeting of the above Society was held in the Society's office, Bidgway Street, at « o'clock last night, there being a fair attendance of members. Mr J. H. Keesing, chairman of directors, presided. The CHAIRMAN, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, congratulated the members on the very satisfactory progress the Society continued to make. Since its inception the Society had lent out to members £57,000, and of this sum on balance day only ,£34 was outstanding in repayments, and since the books were closed most of it had been paid. The Society had never lost a penny, and the way the subscriptions and repayments were paid up was wonderful. The recent financial depression had not fleeted the Society, and its securities \stre such as a capitalist would not for a moment hesitate to accept as first-class in every way. Mr CATHRO seconded the motion, which on being put was carried unanimously. DIRECTORS.—^ There feeing no other nominations, the retiring directors, Messrs Hughes, Meuli, Poynter, and Wells, were declared re-elected. Mr Poynter briefly replied, thanking the members for reelecting unopposed the retiring directors. AUDITOR.— There being no other nomination, the retiring auditor, Mr Selby Morton, was declared elected. Mr Morton replied thanking members for his reelection, and said the Society Was to be congratulated on its stability and the sound position of its members VOTE OF THANKS.-Mr j. K. Revel! moved a hearty vote of thanks to the directors for the close attention they had given to the Society's affairs and for the £?e? c ™ y ,, t , he y had directed its affairs. M.r h. Liddle seconded the motion, which on being put to the meeting,, was carried 7£ti?
