PERJURY.

(Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 24. Eugenic Long, alias Dransfield, was committed for sentence to-day on a charge of perjury in having sworn in Court, in the case in which Thomas Long was charged with being illegally qn premises, that she was not Long's wife^.' Witnesses gave evidence, and the marriage certificate was produced. Accused pleaded guilty, but her counsel said Long forced the woman into marrying him, and had persecuted her ever since. He was a "low ruffian and a despicable blackguard," whom counsel hoped the police would look after.
