THE BISHOPRIC OF WAIAFU

ARCHDEACON AVERILL'S CONSE ORATION TO BE IN JANUARY. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 23. I Archdeacon Averill, of St. Michael's, has accepted the election to the bishopric of Waiapu. The consecration of the bishopelect will probably take place in Napier in January, as the General Synod meets in Wellington about the end of that month, and the new dignitary will be able to take his seat with the other bishops. Standing committees in different dioceses in New Zealand are still to give their consent to the election, but this may be regarded as a matter of form. Archdeacon Averill will not take his departure from Christchurch before the New Year.
