Successful Performance at

Waitotara

In aid of Patea Hospital

• , (From a Correspondent.) Tlie Wanganui Snowdrop Minstrel Troupe, number about 20 members, gave a performance in the Public Hall at vVaitotara last night, in aid of the Fatea Hospital. The company left town at 3 o'clock in a five-horse brake supplied by Mr Jefferson. On arrival at \Vaitotarathey were treated to an excellent .tea, provided by the Waitotara ladies!/ The large hall was packed to^Vie doors, proving- that "nigger mitistrelsy has, lost .none of its attraction. 1(: " Tie ''Bret, part o| .the programme consisted of "she old' time "circle" and cornermen,* the latter positions being very efficiently r filled by .Messrs W. Robinson, A. Vinseffi^F. Scott, and S. Welleri while Mr L. S. Davis presided as "Massa Johnson." The various items and "gags" went with a good swing, while the harmonised choruses' by the troupe were well rendered. Miss Y. Cooper acted as accompanist to the troupe, and deserves praise for her excellent playing. The first part concluded " with an amusing musical finale entitled "The 2.15' to Patea," the "business"' and local -colour in this item being particularly good. The second portion of the, programme consisted of vocal numbers by Miss Kennedy (Waitotara), and Messrs Daniells, Robinson; Fama, and C. Davis, -the entertainment concluding with the screaming /farce, "The New Keeper," with Mr S. Weller in the title role.

The hall was then cleared for dancing, and & most enjoyable entertainment was brought to a close shortly after one o'clock.
