FIRES.
(Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHORCH, September 13. A fire occurred about 1.20 this morning in a building situated in Hereford Street occupied by the Remington Typewriter Co., and W. W. Davies (dentist). The portion tenated by Harvie was completely burnt, while the rooms occupied by Marshall were slightly damaged before the brigade extinguished the fire. Harvie was insured for .£350 in the New Zealand Insurance office. The other insurances were not obtainable.
WELLINGTON, September 14. Yesterday, the skating rink a liiereire Street, which was closed for the kr-a &on the previous day, caught fire and was gutted, except the front portion, in which the stock of skates was sicied. The building was owned by T. V. MtCarthy, and was insured for ,£1250 jn the Phoenix. The origin of the fire is unknown.
GISBORNE, September 14. A five-roomed cottage at Whataupoko was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning. It was owned by Mr Stafford, and occupied by Mr Nocross. The latter's furniture and effects Avere insured for .£250 in the Ocean office.
