HOCKEY.
The following members of St. Pawl's Hockey Club arc' requested to be dn the racecourse at 3 p.m. sharp on Thursday,
when a practice match will be played against the Baptist Hockey Club: — G. liaase, S. Kcrnohan, R. Morton, F. Gibson, W. Arthur, A. Winatonc, J. McKernan, Bennett, Johnson, A. Rabone. J. Thomson, and Copeland. Every member is requested to roll up sharp to time, as a captain for the ensuing season will he elected.
The Maxwell Club held the annual meeting lagt Saturday in the Public Hall. Mr M. Goldsbury presided over the largest gathering of enthusiasts the club has yet been favoured with. The rej^rt and bal-ance-sheet were read and adopted, t^io Litter showing a small credit balance. r ilie following were elected officers for the ensuing year: — President, Mr C. E. Billinghurst ; vice-presidents, Messrs G. F. Moore, C. Russell, F. Mouton, A. Goldsbury, J. Brennan, and W. Morrison; secretary, N. Hughes; captain, M. Goldsbury; vice-cap-tain, E. Handley. The management committee weer appointed as follows: — President, secretary, captain, vice-captain, S. Hughes, J. Smith, and G. Anstis;* selection committee, captain, vice-captain, and secretary; delegates for the Association, Messrs A. Goldsbury and A. Hughes. The new members numbered 12.
The opening day was decided for Saturday, and a match will be played with Nukumaru before the Shield matches commence.
Members of the Wanganui Ladies' Hockey' Club are reminded of the practice tobe held on the Racecourse . to-morrow (Thursday) morning at 6.15 o'clock sharp.
