Protest against Proposed Changes.

Preaa Association.— Telegraph. — Copyright

Received March 28, 8.0 a.m

LONDON, March 27.

The London Chamber of Commerce unanimously protested against any modification by the International ' Telegraphic Conference, to be opened in Lisbon on May 4th, of the clause and the telegraphic service regulation applicable to code words, urging rather the removal of all restrictions respecting the unpro-. nouncibility of words, so long as they did not exceed ten letters.

Mr Charlton, chairman of the Council of the Chamber, said he believed the English Post Office contemplated no radical alteration, but only the withdrawal of a small percentage of words, but the cable companies were pressing the Government to prevent the loss of time and revenue resulting from -fclie us>q of unpronouncible words.
