Auckland Tramways.

AUCKLAND, March 13.

The report by <Jie electrical engineer to the City Council stated that the recent dislocation, of the service arose from engineering troubles with the steam plant, the company having failed to provide adequately against breakdown of any portion of the plant. The Council decided to instruct the engineer to inspect the tramway plant and general equipment, and report what he thinks absolutely necessary ,to prevey.* a recurrence of the breakdowns and stoppages of traffic which have been 6o frequent during the last few weeks. The Council also adopted the recommendation of the Tramway Committee to demand from the Tramway Company £8 per day, for neglect to provide sufficient cars. In the event of non-compliance with the demand, the Council will issue a writ for recovery.
