NAPIER, March 12.
At the Supreme Court, the Crown entered 4. stay of proceedings in the charge against Daniel Tohill of bicycle stealing, in which two juries failed to agree. For theft of a fur necklet, prisoner was sentenced to four months. Richard Webb was found guilty of attempting to carnally know a child, and was sentenced to four years. In the divorce case, A. E. McWhinnie v John McWhinnie (desertion), a decree nisi was granted. In the civil suit, £resswell and Gleeson (solicitors) v Ewen Macdonell (Inspector of Police), claim for ,£l2O 8s 3d, balance for professional services rendered in the criminal libel action Macdonell v George, judgment was given for the amount claimed.
