Westland Jubilation.

HOKITIKA, February 3. Mr H. Qane, Chairman of the Midland Railway Committee of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce, has written the Westland Railway League suggesting that there should be some public ceremony to mark the commencement of the Otira tunnel contract. A, communication has also been sent to the contractors on the subject, and it is likely Messrs McLean will confer with Mr Quane in Christchurch this week.

The Secretary of the Westland RailwayLeague is now in communication with the local bodies of Buller, Inangahua, Grey ana Westland, inquiring if they would cooperate the celebration proposal as now put forward.
