HIDE AND SKIN SALES.

DALGETY AND CO.'S REPORT. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, report having held their usual fortnightly sale of skins and hides thi» afternoon. The skin market showed a drop of from Jd to id per lb all round in sympathy with advices received from London. Hides w«r» firm at prices ruling at last sale rates. We quote: — Sheepskins. — Halfbreds 9Jd, fine crossbreds &i«l to BJd, medium crossbred 7Jd to B|d. boggeta 7|d, inferior and dead s£d to 6|d, butchers' green 7s 6d to 8s 3d, lambs (green) 6d to lOd, salted la 2a*. Hides. — Ox ha»vy 6 l-8d to 6}d, medium 5 l-6d to sid, cows heavy 5d to s{d, medium 4)d to 4Jd, calf sound 6d to 6|d. Tallow.— ln casks £2Q\o£2& 10s per ton, in tins 10s to £23 per ton. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows: — At to-day's sale we offered a smalt lot of wool, {about 100 skins, 150 hides, 800 calf skins, tand a quantity of horsehair, cow tails, and tallow^ Cable advices indicate a drop in London sheepskin sales,, just concluded, and this was reflected in the local sales to-day, prices being id to $d per pound lower than last aale. Hide* sold readily- enough at I late rates, but prices for calf skins were slififhtly easier. We qnote: — - Sheepskins. — Hal/bred and fine crossbred '8H to. Bf3; crossbred coarse 6d to 7fd. dead •Ci to 6fd", broken and inferior 4d to s}d, green skins 6s to 8s 3d, green lambs U to Is 4d. % I
