A Favourable Report

MASTERTON, October 9.

The Wairarapa Daily Times reporter has just returned from a visit of inspection to Mr F. Rummer's coal prospectiag operations at Mauriceville^ which have been on a tolerably extensive scale, involving a total outlay of some .£SOO. The reporter wa» accompanied by a qualified mining expert (Mr A. EL Hall). The latter was very favourably impressed with the inspection. Mr Kummer has done a deal of work in. the way of shafts, drives, and tramway hualing appliances, etc. Mr Hall pronounces that all the indications are exceptionally eneour&erinjr- He predicts that there is a successful future before the industry at Mauriceville. He also found indications of other valuable deposits, including constituents of cement.
