Pr«M Association.— Telegraph.— Copyright. Received June 11, 'J. 15 a.m. LONDON, Jim 10. The Timo, commenting on the Northern Territory prospects, asseits that Poll Darwin is iloieiisible without a large population, and that Mr Watson may find near to the centres of Australian life ample scope for his new conceptions of the need of population. SYDNEY. June 11. The article in the Times, relerred to in to-day's cables, is alluding to a speech made by Mr "Watson during his recent tour iv the Northern Territory, where he declared that there could be no doubt ac to the importance to the people of Australia having the Northern Territory peopled, and peopled as densely as possible, with a population which could be relied upon in times of emergency. He considered that the gravest danger tlueatcning Australia at this time was the leaving open of this door to a people who, although they were friendly to-day, might, in the whirligig of time, become anything but lrieudly.
