COMPLIMENT TO AN M.H R.

(Per United Pre9S Association.) DUNEDIN, December 20. There was a large and representative gathering at Palmerston _ last night, when Mr. T. Mackenzie, M.H.R.. was presented with an illuminated address and a gold watch and chain, and Mrs. Mackenzie and her daughter with articles of jewellery. Tho Hon. R. McNab represented the Ministry, and made an eulogistic speech, as did also Messrs. Duncan, Donald Reid, and Ja"s. Allen. Mr. Mackenzie condemned the vexatious and frequent alteration of electoral boundaries, the effect of which was to put experienced Parliamentarians against each other, and said the House must interfere to put a stop to such a condition of affairs.
