FIRES.
Insurances*
(Per United Press Association.) HASTINGS, December 20. The following were the insurances in connection with the fire this morning: — D. Scannell, building (including Paterson and Mossman's office) JE6OO in the London, Liverpool, and Globe office; effects j£loo in the New Zealand ; Paterson and Moesman's office contents, .£SO in the South British; Lequesne and Cowan's buildings, ,£SO; contents £200 in the Standard; Edmond's printing plant, ,£225 in Australian Alliance : G. James, painters' requisites, .£IOO in the Sun; J. T. Blake's store at rear of buildings <£50, contents *«>. The building occupied by Booth and Mac Donald and James and Edmonds, and owned by Messrs A. H. Russell was insured for <£600 in the Sun. It is believed that there are no insurances on Booth's stock valued at 42(300. The block destroyed was in the brick area, and all the new building will consequently be in brick.
