THE GAUMONT CHRONOPHONE TO-
NIGHT.
An exchange speaking of the StonhamMorrison Co.'s performance says: — Very naturally a large and expectant audience assembled, prompted by a desire to see the latest development of the now universal living picture. The management claim for the Gaumont Chronophone that it has solved the problem of making hitherto silent pictures articulate, tliereoy endowing them with a perfect touch of renlism, in other words, the picture personalities presented by the Gaumont Chronophone profess to reproduce the voice, as well a 9 the actions, of the original, so that they not only move, but sinor, talk, lnugh and whistle "as well. This claim is justified to a considerable extent, for though it may be expected, the voice is from the cyclophone, it fits so accurately with the facial expression and the gesticulation of the pictured pei formers, that it requires no great stretch of the imagination to sugeeßt that the sound really proceeds from the figures on the screen. The Company have an entirely new set of pictures. Amongst the chronophone items wo notice "The Whistling Bowing Boy," this being a whistling song with chorus. "Happy Darkic" is an amusing coon song. The company have some beautiful coloured films, all of which are entirely new to this town. Miw Nellie Power, Australia's leading coon s)iig artiste, will render a few selections during the performance to-night nnd to-morrow night, when the company appear at the Opera House. Seats may be reserved at H. I. Joues and Son's stationery depot.
