INTERESTING APPEAL CASE.

(Per United Preae Association). WELLINGTON, October 22.

The Appeal Court has reserved its judgment in the Christchurch case of Anne Foster, who had been indicted and convicted for manslaughter in connection with the death of an infant, the illegitimate child of her daughter Harriet. The questions were whether the accused was liable to provide the infant with the necessaries of life, Beeing that the husband was alive? Did the evidence prove the accused contracted to take charge of the child? And, further, was she properly convicted under section 148 of the Criminal Code Act, 1893?
