BOWLING.

The windy nature of the weather interfered considerably with good bowling on the local green on Saturday. Notwithstanding this, however, a good afternoon was spent in getting off the fixture, England v. Scotland. From the outset, with the exception of one rink, it appeared as though the sons of Scotia would suffer a very severe defeat. Their national pluck came to their aid, however, and they put up a good fight, being eventually beaten by 20 points. Of the six rinks played, England won 4 and Scotland 2. The following are the detailed scores. ' Rink 1. — England — Pawson, Saphir, Cohen, Rodwell 20, v. Scotland — Cresswell, Braik, Murray (W. H.), Ross 14. Rink 2.— Wilding, Griffiths, Eeesing, Elliott 34 v. Fountain, Drummond, Stewart, Armstrong 12. Rink 3.— Reed, Battle, W. Rankin, Perrett 24 v. Christie, Thomson, D. McFarlane, A. McFarlane 20. Rink 4s»— Sherriff, Brookman, Hoggard, Towsey 20, v. London, Murray, Carson, Dickson 28. Rink 5.— T. Rankin, Peake, Miller, Benefield 16 v. McMurray, Taylor, Bryce, J. Paterson 24. Rink 6.— Knowles, Spurdle, Tuck, Foster 22, v. Bates, Stevenson, Graham, Paterson 18. Totals — England 136, Scotland 116.
