WANGANUI RIFLES.

The following handicaps have been allotted for the third competition for Captain Redmond'3 trophy, to be fired on Thursday and Saturday next (conditions, 14 shots at 800 yds): — Lieutenant Scott, Sergeant G. Harrison, and Volunteer G. Handley sch., Volunteer Drummond 2 points, Corporal Smithies 4, Sergeants Brown and G. Harrison and Corporal Anderson 7, Lieut. Cox and Volunteer Porteous 12.

HIGHLAND RIFLES.

The following is the result of last week's shooting at ,200 and 500 yard's, for the company's Challenge Belt and the first competition for the Laurie trophy. The possible scores was 56. Some fair scores were recorded, under the wet weather conditions. Subjoined are the scores: —

In connection with the above, the winners of the aggregate in the three competitions of the "trained men course/ including handicap, receives the trophy, and the five next in order company prizes. The following are the handicaps for the third range, 800 yards, of the "steadying practice," to be fired for on Thursday and Saturday afternoon next, at 1.30 o'clock. Ammunition, as usual, will be issued free from the magazine on the range:—Captain McNaught scratch, Sergt. Cunningham 1 point, Pvt Drummond 1, Pvt. Gordon scratch, Sergt Gibbons 5, Lieut. Armstrong 4, Lieut Craig 4, Sergt. Craig 4, Pvt. Hughes 5, Pvt F. Gunn 4, Pvt W. Gunn 6, Corpl. Ross 6, Pvt. Smithies 6, •Corpl. Armstrong 7, Pvt. McGonagle 6, Pvt. Weston 6, Pvt. Greaves 6, remainder of company 8.
