TOWN v. COUNTRY.
The following have been chosen to «♦- prc6eut the town clubs (Melioae and Kiu Toa) against the country clubs (Fordell aud Wangachu) in the match to be played on the Rpc. on Thursday afternoon next^ I'ominc-ncing at 1.30 o'clock: — Full-back, R. mialey (Kia Toa); three-quarters, Dunn (Ki:t Toa), Spillane (Melrose), and Carthy (Mclroae): five-eighths, DO (Melroso'V; half. Kelleher (Melroae) ; wing forwards, Callaghan and E. Dowdall (Melroae): forwards. Gill. Stewart, Lynch. Rol)»!>n, and Eylande (Kia Toa), McCarthy and Dowdsll "(Melrose). Emergencies, Corby and Hamlin (Melrose), and McCafcdish Bros. (Kia Toa). The team will play in Kia Toa jerseys (amber and black).
COUNTRY. The following team has been selected to play for the Country in the above match : — Full-back, Watson; three-quartere, Burr, Taki, Loveridge; five-eighths', Ranganui; half, Ronald; forwards, B. McDonald, Giles, E. Green, Millard, McConachie, Sharpe, J. Greeahill, Gilmour, L. Wilaon. Emergencies: J. Green, Sullivan, Paki, Urupini, FFt. t Greeahill, P. McDonald.
The referee of the Kia Tba v. Feildiag Junior match last Saturday reported N. Douglass, of Feilding, and Lowe, of' the Kia Toas, for fighting during the game. The Manawatu Union decided to disqualify Douglass until December 31st, and' Lowe until the end of the present season .
Suspension was also placed upon L. Skelley until he replies to the Union's inquiry as to why he played for another Union when ho was selected to play for Manawatu. It was due to thi3 trouble, I Understand, that Skelley was not selected
to represent Wanganui against Horowheaua.
The sub-committee reported having arranged the following days for rep. matches: — Against Taranaki on August 9th at New Plymouth; Wanganui on 11th August at Wanganui; Hawke's Bay ou a Wednesday near the end of the month at Napier; and 28th August was suggested' for the Wairarapa match at Palmerston. Messrs D. Barnett and G. Thompson w : ll be at the training shed to coach tho rc^e. ih^B evening. Auckland defeated Thames on Saturday at tho Thames by 6 points (two tries) to 3 prtints (one try). Kiernan played for Auckland.
