Sir,— l understand ' from Mr H.- F Christie that you have been so good as to consent to receive any subscriptions which may be promoted in Wanganui and neighbourhood by the publication in your journal of a notios acknowledging a handsome sum from Mr Christie himself, and inviting others to follow his example, for which please accept my best thanks. I have opened an account with the Bank of Australasia in Wellington in name of Japiies"3. Consul, and whenever you think it time or have enough worth remitting perhaps you will be so good as to- ask the Wanganui branch to transfer it without charging exchange.
