TRAINING NOTES. AUCKLAND, October 8. Most of the work at Ellerslie this morning was confined to steady pacing. Multifid badly beat Grenade over six furlongs on the sand in linin l&sec. King Billy was three lengths in, front of Boomerang at the end of four - furlongs on the sand ran in 50sec. Geordie, Lovelini, Heroism, and Sir Gilead finished in that order at the end of seven furlongs on the grass in lmin 27J sec. General Average and Nervine were together at the end of four furlongs on +iie grass in 48soc. Strong winds have dried the course considerably, but it is likely to be soft for to-inor#ow's racing. <■
