THE AUDIT COMMISSION.

(Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 31. Giving evidence before the Audit Commission to-day, William Larcombe, clerk in the Christchurch Post Office, with 22 years' service, swore that he had handled a genuine voucher in favour of Captain Seddon. Nothing could convince him to the contrary or shake his belief that the voucher was still in existence. He was as certain that he had seen the voucher as that he was standing in Court. Thomas West, clerk in the Christchurch Post Office, with ten* years' service, said he had seen the voucher, and would swear to it as long as he lived. He had not been promised that if he stuck to his statement a situation would be provided for him. What ha had said was that a congratulatory telegram was received from a Mr Wake at Wanganui, offering a position to Willis. David Lundon, for seven ypars clerk in the Christchurch Post Office, gave evidence that he had seen the missing voucher. Ho did not suffer fronu hallucinations, nor had he a grievance against the Government. WELLINGTON, November 1. Tli3 Audit Conjmission resumed this morning, when Dr» Findlay suggested that as Captain SeddonSintended to submit himself, Mr Fisher should go into the witness box. Mr Fisher said he had no objection, and gave evidence.! He. was cross-axaminei by Dr Findlay as to how he arrived at tho date of June 9 as the date of the Seddon voucher, and said* that he had looked tip the dat? Captain Scddou was in Chriotchurch, and arrived at the conclusion that way. He afterwards found he had made a mistake in the number of the voucher and the date, and in correcting the former ho corrected the latter. It was impossible for him to say frojn whom he first learned the. amount of the voucher. It came as a rumour, and not from Mr Willis.
