SATURDAY SHIELD MATCHES

Wanganui v. T.Y.M.l.— Wanganui (with, a man short) created another surprise in this game by beating the Saturday champions by two goals to one. The game was fast and exciting throughout. There was no score- in the first spell, though both goals had narrow escapes. In the second spell T.YrM.I. scored lirst, Rodgors hitting'it through after a good rush by the green forwards. Wanganui then rallied and Ryan soon scored, after McLean had missed a ridiculously easy chance. Hardwickc scored the second goal just on time after a fine individual dribble. The winners played very well on the whole, Cave and Bannister in the backs, and Ryan, Hardwicke, and Bullock, in the forwards, playing particularly well. and Humphries were the pick of the green backs, while Martin and Rogers played well in the forward line.
