MUSEUM LECTURE TO-NIGHT.

We give a final reminder of thei lecture to be given in the Museum Hall to-night by Mr J. A. Gilruth, Chief Veterianrian, on "Bacteria in Relation to Health aud Disease." The lecture will be explained by reference to a fine series of, diagrams, and as Mr Gilruth is an authority on this interesting subject, there should be a large attendance.

WEST'S PICTURES.

The Opera House was crowded to the doors again last evenig, when West's Pictures and the Brescians concluded a most successful season in Wanganui. The entertainment provided was a really good one, the pictures shown being excellent. Great interest was taken in the production of the picture of Victoria Avenue, which was taken on Friday, when the weather conditions were not favourable. However, the picture was a very good one, all things considered, and caused considerable amusement. During the evening Mr West took oc6asion to thank the people of Wanganui for the liberal patronage bestowed upon him, and announced, amidst applause, that he hoped to return here before long, bringing with him a new lot of pictures, which no doubt will be appreciated by the public. •

A meeting of the Boys' Empire League will be held in the Fire Brigade- Hall this evening at the usual hour.

The annual general meeting of the Wanganui Sailing Club will be held at the Metropolitan Hotel on Tuesday, 29th inst.

1 Supporters of Mr R. M. Gatenby's taudidatnre are reminded of the .meeting to be held in Duigan's Buildings this evening at 8 o'clock.

Reside uts of Liverpool Street Extension, who have been agitating for an additional light in their part of the town will no doubt be glad to see by our report of last night's meeting of the Borouch Council, that the previous resolution, refusing their request, has been rescinded.

The next Shield draughts match (Easlown v. Wanganui) will be played tomorrow (Thursday) night in the ' Wanganui Club's Eoom. After the match the Committee of the Wanganui Club will meet and draw for the next round for the gold nuggets.
