- WELLINGTON, August 23. M*r Donne, head of the Tourists and gomrngtce. Department?,, retjiriie.d_jtQ-jiay froni a visit to America and Britain. His main object was to secure the co-operation of American, British, and Continental manufacturers in the carrying out of the International Exhibition at Christchurch. Interviewed by a Post, reporter, Mr Donne declined to give details of the amount of success met with, but, generally speaking, says he has every confidence that the representation will be thoroughly characteristic of all the countries through wliich he has travelled. He is greatly impressed with the desirableness of further advertising the colony abroad, and thinks the present a favourable time for offering facilities to British farm folk to come to the colony, owing to the shortage of lands in Britain for the rising generation. He Hob definite recommendations to make to the Government on this point.
