SATURDAY SHIELD MATCHES
Elastown v. T.Y.M.I. — Eastown (who are at present rather under a cloud) were again short handed, and T.Y.M.I. had a very easy win by no less than Bix goals to nil.- Rogers (2), Langridge (2), Soler and Martin (one each) did the scoring. Mr P{s,yne refereed. St. Paul's v. Wanganui. — This game provided a comfortable win for Wanganui. There was no score in- the first spell, though Wanganui missed some very simple chances. In the second spell St. Paul's scored first, through the agency of Gibson. This woke Wanganui up, and they scored five goals very quickly, while St. Paul's got another one, Graham scoring. Wanganui thus won by 5 to 2. Tho winners' goals were obtained by Ryan (2), Hardwicke, Thorpe, and McLean. Bannister played very well for Wanganui, Seeding his forwards in fine style, while Bell and Gibson did best for St. Paul's. Mr Dowdney refereed.
The following have been chosen .to play Manawatu (on a date yet to be fixed) at Palmerston : — Goal — Cave. Eull-backs — Armstrong and .Sykes.
Halves — Soler, Strange, and Bannister. Forwards — King, Hardwickc, Gichard, Coe, and HoggEmergencies : — Back, Rabone ; half, Bell; forwards, Loftus and Martin.
Players chosen who cannot male tho joitrney" are requested to inform the secretary (Mr Oliver) at once.
