COMPLAINTS RE BANGEE.— Mr W. F. Wall, the County Hanger, attended in reference to certain complaints.— The. Chairman said- personally ho. had. no/ know- : ledge of any neglect on the part of Mr' Wall. — Cr Harper pointed out that the Banger could not bo all over the district at once, and often on receiving complaints and going to remove straying stock h-o found it had been removed. — Cr Dempsey said, the Ranger had been very, neglectful in respect to Mosstown. and he thought a man in such a position should have no friends, «and also should not act with any unnecessary hardnesfs.^Hie .Ranger replied, denying any neglefct.* " As %o nardnoss, he said that some people were constantly letting stock stray, and took no notice of his remonstrances, and it was necessary to proceed against them to.mak-3 them observe the law. Some had tried to bribe him to avoid proceedings. — Cr Walker said that Mr Wall's district was too large, and it was often impossible for him to catch strayiug stock, though he knew, as far as Aranioho was concerned, .h« had repeatedly tried to do so. The Hanger should have an assistant. — The Chairman said as fax as by-roads (at Mostown) were concerned, the Hanger had nothing to do with thorn. WILLOWS' ON ROADS.— Resolved that Messrs Curnow and Hiekmott be ordered to cut down the willows on their land which overshadow the road.
