LOCAL OPTION POLL.
The local option poll in the Millieent district (Vie.) to determine the granting 6$ the new licenses, especially ono for an hotel at Giencoc, has resulted in a decisive temperance victory. Only about onethird oi" the electors in the district vote:!, as follows; — For new publicans' licenses 100, against 401 ;■ for tho new wine licences 80. against 590; for new colonial wine licenses 86, against 387; for n©W club licenses 81. against 390; for new brewers' colonial ale' licenses' 9o, 'against 381. This vote blocks the issue of new licenses i'or three years.
